Advent Internet are a bunch of cowboys, and I told them so myself. And I’ve ditched them, and transferred my domain to OpenHosting – very nice people (apparently) – or so tinyjo says, and I trust Jo on matters like this!
So, apologies for the lack of style, elegance and grace on these pages (as you have come to expect), or for the lack of (well, just about anything at all) on shepline.com, but for the next 24 hours or so I’m between domains so to speak.
Rest assured, normal service will be resumed as soon as possible, and when back up and annoucements will be made in all fashionable colour supplements when normal service is finally resumed…
Gah. What have Advent been up to then? Openhosting are indeed very nice – at least, I haven’t had any problems with them.
They were recommended to me, and they seemed professional enough… Their service was good enough when finally it’s all set up – trouble is getting them to set things up and acknowledge you is a struggle. I found a phone number for them in a convoluted way from directory enquiries, but they never answer and the “mailbox is full”?!! In the end I got a mobile number for them (and an email address previously unknown of despite scouring their website) from WorldPay.com (bless ’em!).
I managed to get through to some unhelpful person at Advent and he agreed to refund my money and change my nameservers. I set up with OpenHosting this afternoon and so far they’ve like little angels.
Don’t use AdventInternet!! And if you know anyone who does, I’ll give them the phone number…
Still, I have now got my OneTel broadband sorted – bit of a faff but that was down to the previous owners of my house and their shoddy DIY skills!! OneTel have been very helpful…
