Ben and Hanna have arrived at the gas station at the edge of town – well when I say town, there’s a church and a general store over yonder somewhere and a spread out collection of old and new brightly painted homes – but they’ve arrived. And the bus have departed, and they are standing alone on the desolate forecourt in the onset of a chill Icelandic evening, and their lift hasn’t arrived yet.
No, it’s okay – there’s the roar of the pick up truck emblazened with the Hólar Fish and Ag school logo on the side, and Hanna’s schoolfriend Bjäkk to take them back to the school for the night. Helen stayed their too – a few weeks ago – on her journey up to the north – I wonder if we’ll see her … echoes of her – there…?!!
