Pictures from the weekend – as you can see, the house is really beginning to take shape. End of the month is still the planned move in date (and not a moment too soon!

Wow! That all looks fantastic. Whens the house warming? 😎
What a lovely house! Must’ve cost a fortune!
Thankfully, all but the *30%* increase in size is covered by the insurance… Although surprisingly, considering that it’s a solid oak-framed building it’s actually consderably cheaper than a *so-called* conventional build of blockwork and brick!!
…and every bit of wood is doing exactly what it’s saying it’s doing!
I love it! What material is the roof?
Thatch (Norfolk Reed) on the *main* house, and reclaimed tiles on the lounge, utility room and bays.
There’s blockwork round the outside – but it’s only there to give us nice deep windowsills and that *cottagy* feel, the special thermocell sheets that clad the oak frame are actually enough to keep it toasty warm…
Beautiful work. I’d like to read about how that kind of roof is built.
*swoon*
It’s BEAUTIFUL!!!
