Mark Haddon’s children’s-adult crossover book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has deservably won the Best Novel award (though strangely in the adult category not the children’s – hmph!) and is now up against David Almond’s The Fire-Eaters (winner of the children’s award), which I bought for myself just before Christmas at the same time as buying a copy as a chrissy pressie for me mum, for the Whitbread Book of the Year.

But which shall win…
