In correspondence with cogenthought I was reminded of her recent post whereby she talks about growing out her hair after posting her new userpic of herself a few years ago and noone recognising her…

…it brought to mind the video tape of Christmas 10 years ago, that we had previously thought was lost (if you know me, you know why). We watched a bit over Christmas – ’tis nice to have, there’s Bramble as a kitten being very Bramble in an armchair and getting mixed up in the Christmas Tree skirt, and there’s some rare video footage of a full set of grandparents all together in White House Farm. Most of the time I’m behind the camera, however evidently the view finder was prised away from me for long enough to get some (even) rarer footage of me. It’s when you see blasts from the pasts (and no I’m not going to show you – actually I can’t it’s not digital yet – yay!) that you realise how much you have (I won’t say aged, but) changed in those intervening years.

How come, we ourselves do not notice? Are we really that unobservant about our ourselves?

Additional: Actually, I hadn’t fully realised how much the rest of the family changed either in those years. I guess if you see them from day to day, or even month to month, you don’t notice the little changes…
