The shortest day is the 21 December, right. So how come before two days before then I would arrive at work in daylight (okay, the glorious aftermath of sunrise) and yet, now a clear two weeks after the shortest days when surely the days ought (by rights) be getting longer I have to not only get up in the dark but arrive at work in the dark?!! What with leaving to go home in the dark as well, I’m definitely desiring more daylight…
Me, not just understand!
I don’t know for certain, but just because the days are getting longer, it doesn’t necessarily follow that sunrise must get earlier. We could go through a period where, for example, sunrise is 10mins later but sunset is > 10mins later. It’s probably to do with the angle of the earth and stuff.
Now you mention it, that does kind of make sense. I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks! 🙂
