It seems that I’m not going to come by a shiny new, powerful computer in the immediate future – one is on the horizon but it’s a tad misty at the mo’ and it’s hard to judge distances…
With this in mind, I have bitten the bullet and ordered a memory upgrade to my ailing desktop. Originally supplied with just 64MB of RAM, I had previously upgraded it to 128MB, I’m now going to swap those two cards for 128MB and take it up to the system maximum of 256. At the very least this should make general system performance much better, including such memory hungry programmes as Photoshop – at best, it will cure the tendancy it has to crash and freeze up. At worst it won’t fix this, but I should still see some improvement in performance.
We shall see…

In other geeky news, I have ordered the wireless card of the secondhand laptop I will be getting shortly. This will at least allow me email, surf the web and write my novel from the comfort of the arm chair on a reasonably stable machine, leaving me with the desktop for those memory intensive graphics programmes.
Buy 512 if your machine can take it. It hardly costs much more and is a “good” amount to have.
Thought of that – but this is what I’ve bought – as you can see it’s nicely brought up my make/model of machine, and 256 is the maximum upgrade it can take…
Boooo.
Is that ‘Boooo’ to my last comment, or did you just feel like saying ‘Boooo’?!!! Has your bounciness of yesterday still not worn off…?
Boo that you couldn’t upgrade. Still a bit bouncy. 🙂
