…I finally gain access to my computer again.
We had a power cut at work this morning. There I was busily running through the files for the latest issue of the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, when suddenly, the computer goes black, the lights go out, and all around the open plan office the drone of 500 hundred computers powering down is replaced by 300 gasps of “Oh”, all in unison.
The power wasn’t off for long, but the disruption to my computer has lasted far longer. For about an hour I sit here, thumping the mouse and cursing explitives at the rectangle of light in front of me. Why does these things always happen on the days when one actually has work to do. Four journals in today, and a KPI report to prepare…?! I bet if I zilch in everything would be working perfectly…!
Funnily enough we had one this morning, though there are massive building works here so it’s not surprising. I hadn’t got here anyway, it was only at 10 past 9 🙂
When you say massive building works, you’re not talking Oxford Business Park are you? They’re building all around us, and it probably was about 10 past 9…
No, this is Howbery Park in Crowmarsh Gifford (near Wallingford). There’s a lot of it about 🙂
