Not wanting to let the grass grow under my feet, I have put down roots into Chapter Four, Midnight Research, and written down through into page two already, notching up a reasonable 410 words.

I feel pleased by this, especially as it represents a change of tack after the resolution of chapter three. The action transfers to that of Professor Harry Tyndale and and his obsessive, and somewhat unorthodox, research programme in Iceland. These are perhaps some of the hardest scenes for me to write as it involves putting in sciency theorising about climate change dynamics and the like, keeping it in the realms of ‘plausibility’ (I’m using that word in it’s lightest possible sense *grins*) so that I can have the alternative reasons behind what is happing to Helen, Ben and Hanna Katla far off across the country…
