Amazon.com sent me an email today suggesting a book that I may want, and, indeed I do!
The sequel to the excellent Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot : Being the Correspondence of Two Young Ladies of Quality Regarding Various Magical Scandals in London and the Country by Caroline Stevermer and Patricia C. Wrede is out now, and possibly exceeds the former book in the length of its title…
What an odd-sounding genre! I’m not sure the novels appeal to me all that much (being aimed at folks much younger than I) but some of the Amazon reviews are among the best I’ve read 🙂
Its a very interesting style as it happens – and one that I have tried many years ago. You get two friends to take on characters and write letters from one to another as those characters. The beauty of it is, is that at a no point do they discuss plot or characters, but each persuing their own story reacting to events as disclosed in previous letters, like in life.
Oooh, interesting. Almost like LJ! 🙂
Is there no objective narration at all? How do they manage the climax of the story when everyone is in the same place? Havent got time to read the thing, you’ll just have to summarise for me 😉
