On Monday, I took advantage of it being half term to nip round the Oxford ringroad after work and got myself an external soundcard. This week, whilst writing long, personal, highly protected posts and persueing how Solveig is manipulating both the Alfar and the Human people in my story, I have been digitising my tapes of various BBC Radio adaptations. Taped over the years off the radio, there are some classic stories, which I’ve now been listening to, to and from work. At the moment I’m listening to Susan Cooper’s The Dark Is Rising with Ronald Pickup as Merriman – and it is stunningly dark and scary. It probably doesn’t help that at this Autumnal–Winterly time of year and the country roads I drive though at the two cusps of the day seem to mirror the atmosphere of the story. Maybe The Walker is abroad…
