The problem about very enjoyable four-day weekends, is that the Tuesday that follows them, is very busy. At the end of the day, I seem to have only barely made a dent in the backlog of journals to work through. Hmphh! That said, I still came away at my allotted time. I wasn’t about to catch up two days work by staying one hour later, so better to leave when I did, and come back afresh tomorrow.

I have just listened to an excellent and very interesting edition of Front Row on Radio 4 where, conductor John Eliot Gardiner and writer Philip Pullman talked to Mark Lawson about their own private correspondence on Bach and his creative influence on them. It was fascinating and I thoroughly recommend you tuning in to the programme via the BBC’s Listen Again feature.
