As I stumble ever the closer to the end of my penultimate chapter/part of The Novel, I find myself writing backwards. I don’t often do this, but occasionally I find it useful to write a scene and then work backwards from that, from where I go backwards again, and sometimes forwards, and sometimes splicing a scene into the middle.
It’s kind of interesting; kind of strange; but kind of works. 😉
Yes – it can be a useful thing to do. That’s kind of what I’m doing at the moment – I’ve made notes on my chapters, and whose POV they’re from, and then I’m going back to ‘fill in’ areas that seem to need expanding – and it’s interesting doing that in the light of knowing exactly what happens in subsequent chapters.
