It seems that I have just managed to buy myself a piccolo. I made two bids for the item on ebay, the first making me the ‘current high bidder’ but not ‘meeting the reserve price’. The second, of four quid more put me in the in a chance of buying the thing.

For the following 8 minutes, I sat nervously waiting for the auction to end, with this curious feeling of whether I had done the right thing or not, and partial hope that I would be outbid at the last minute. I wasn’t, and I am soon to be the proud owner of a Yamaha YPC-32 Piccolo for fifty quid under the ‘Buy Now’ option of £225 – and under half the rrp. of this make and model new.

Am I allowed to be both excited and scared at the same time about this?
