1. I got the bus in Oxford today, so I made sure I was up bang on time. There’s something very nice – very continental – about walking across St Giles, and down Little Clarendon Street in the early morning before everybodies out and and about with the sun shining. It always seems to remind me of Before Sunrise for some reason. And that makes me happy…
2. Reason for bussing not biking it? An interview. Another one at Taylor & Francis for two Production Editor jobs. So how did it go, I hear you say? You’ve just asked the question that I really hate answering. I think it went well. I think I demonstrated the right kind of skills/experience, and yes, in answer to the question: what makes you think you can do this job? (or words to that effect), I used the words “because I’ve done it before” which I think was quite succinct of me. And I managed to talk around the slightly odd recent job history (with the short spell as PE) quite naturally, and they seemed to buy it (having heard already about the Singapore and Wiley business) so that’s good. 🙂 They seemed interested in me as a person, and I seemed to be able to talk well with them, so *fingers crossed* I guess…
3. Spoke to my mum tonight. Apparently they’ve had a postcard delivered to them for me. They didn’t say who it was from and they’ve put it in the post again now, but apparently it said across the top that ‘HOPE THIS GETS TO YOU OKAY ITS THE ONLY ADDRESS I HAVE FOR YOU’ which does somewhat leave me wondering because I didn’t live at my mum’s current address for that long. Curiouser and curiouser I have to say.
4. Apropo of this and the fact that this years Summer Party is literary themed and set in Oxford’s Bodleian Library, does anyone know where I might be able to get adult-sized Ravenclaw robes and ties?
5. There should be five things on this list, and it has been very windy today. No rain, though… 🙂
