After the excitement of yesterday we had a bit of lay-in today before getting up to clean the house and do some shopping at Waitrose. Getting back from Waitrose we were alarmed to find a little sparrow hanging upside down and flapping frantically from the bird feeder. Upon closer inspection it had got its foot trapped between two bits of metal. We released it into Emma’s hands and she cared for it, operating to remove the broken foot. Possibly not the wisest course of action as it then bled profusely but with much wet cotton wool we stemmed the bleeding and later released it. It has since flown off into the trees next door, and to date has not been seen since.
