Abingdon Concert Band had entered, for the first (and scary) time the National Concert Band Festival regional finals. Today was the day for it, and so a particularly cold and bleak and miserable November Sunday we all traipsed up to Northampton to play and be judged.

We came, we played, we saw some other bands playing, and were judged. Thankfully we weren’t competing against each other, but rather in a Chelsea Flower Show style, against the criteria. Last year’s gold medal winners of Northampton Concert Band scored silver and we took away a respectable Bronze award.
