We released the draft new Department of Psychology site today. Nicola, Sophie, and myself have been working hard produce a new department portal and navigational structure. We were always expecting this to be a back’n’forth process of agreement and changes, but we were hoping that there would be broad approval … enough at least to soft‐launch it on Tuesday and add functionality and make tweaks in the new year. We’ve had a handful of responses so far, and the verdict is not good. What’s worse is that they are commenting on things that we already addressed in the draft statement, things that we know about and are working on but are making them a bigger deal; and they are being stupid and not realising that they are part of a school and as such there has to be some similarity between how all the departments in the school look and feel and work.
I’m not taking it personally, and I was expecting resistance but its still hard. It’s hard not to take it personally.
