It has always bothered me, as a designer with a love of the most carefully crafted books that I am limited in the fonts that I can use on websites by what users are most likely to have installed on their computers (or latterly, mobile device). Yes, for titles or headings I could use something more pleasing by aligning the text to appear -9000pixels off to the left and replace it instead with an image but its a fudge. Now it seems there finally is an answer.
This evening I’ve been playing with HTML 5 a bit to see what all the fuss is about and with Google Web Fonts – not necessary the most choice (Adobe and the like do their own versions with access to all the famous typefaces) but the Google one is free. Finally, it looks like the web might get typographically beautiful!
