The holiday is real. Tonight Emma and I booked our holiday to Iceland. We wanted to book this much sooner, and could have done if we were honest, but we both needed new passports and decided to wait until we had them in our hands before proceeding further. So tonight we booked the flights, and then our accommodation, and finally a jeep to take us around the country – we’re doing the full circle around the ringroad – exciting! I’ve never done that!

Ytra Laugaland in Eyjafjarðarsveit

Three nights near Akureyri from where we can see Myvatn, go whale-watching from Húsavík and visit Jökulsárgljúfur National Park, Ásbyrgi, Vesturdalur and Dettifoss.

It’s a long way to drive from the north to the south, so we need to break the journey somewhere and this little farm looks adorable. Need to find out what else to see over in this part of Iceland.

Hólmur in Mýrum

Our base for two nights in the southeast of Iceland and we will be staying on a farm with reindeer! Höfn’s not far, and we can explore Jökulsárlón, Ingólfshöfði, Skaftafell National Park (got to see my steps again!)

There’s an outside chance that we may get to see the Northern Lights too. I’ve only ever seen them once and that was on Saturday 16 August 2002, so its certainly not impossible.

And we get to top and tale our adventures with about 6 days in Reykjavik to do the museums, take in the Golden Circle and see all my cousins and second cousins! Can’t wait! 🙂
