A Thread Through Time by Deborah Shepherd
This is Deborah Shepherd’s second novel, after her debut, The Underhill Buttons, and like with Buttons it is a classic time-shift novel of the kind that Penelope Lively used to write when she wrote for children.
It’s a perfect summer holiday adventure, set as it is on the isle of Crete in the inspiring ruins of the ancient city of Knossos. The scenes are painted perfectly, down to how Kostos’ and Diana’s father relaxes for a siesta after lunch with olives and good wine. And it features a new take on the legends of Theseus and Ariadne and the Minotaur.
A brilliant, if short tale, for young and old children alike!
