This is the story of two families who haven’t really spoken in 20 years who decide to holiday together in a cottage on the Welsh borders after, and for the sake of, their recently departed mother. However well you get on with your friends or (especially) your family, we all have differences and this book beautifully and wittily reflects that.

Written in the present tense and hopping between (but not in an annoying sense) between eight different Point of Views, the book is packed full of references to popular culture and news and current affairs, in such a way as to tell, and complete, the story.

This is the kind of book that forces you to read quickly but you really don’t want to end. It is absolutely deserving of five stars!
