One scene showed “Orwell” in a trench in the Spanish civil war explaining how to make a cup of tea. He suggested SIX spoons, no bags or strainer to constrain the leaves, milk in first so that you don’t spoil the tea with too much, and no sugar; according to him you may as well add salt or pepper since it does nothing to enhance the tea!

Personally I favour instant decaff coffee, white with 1 sugar (or two lumps) but if presented with tea I like it from a bag, in a cup, with one sugar and milk in last to create a pale beige. Not very hardcore really but each to their own – my father orders his tea “spoon stood up” i.e. very strong, and leaves the bag in until he’s finished drinking it.
