9 or 10 is not bad at all…all it means is that a 10th grader should be able to read your journal. It’s based on wordiness and word length. It would be too wordy or too many big words for younger kids.

No, I think I’m still with you. So it seems that me and most of journal friends are writing (if this meme is to be believed?) posts that have a reading of about Grades 9 or 10… Hrmm…

But if you look inside almost any children’s book, where they have all copyright info, they list the reading level, and it looks like “RL:6” or “RL:6.6”
RL:6 indicates that the technical side of the writing is about a 6th grade reading level (11-year-old student) It doesn’t take into account content, so some books also indicate if the content is suggustive of older readers. I typically found though, that books at my RL were to hard…I was reading mostly 2nd and 3rd grade RL books when I was in 4th grade and mostly 4th and 5th grade books when I was in sixth.

Does this make more sense now, or did I just confuse you?
