Novemberfest III

We all know that Octoberfest is tradionally, beer, beer and more beer…

Well, you see I don’t drink alot – I can’t really ‘cos of the pills I take for my epilepsy – but I do like baking – puddings and cookies and cakes and all kinds of chocolately goodness!

And November is that time, just past autumn and just before Christmas, when the clocks go back, and the nights draw in, and there’s a chill in the air but the days are still sunny, and there are leaves to kick underfoot … and it’s cookie season.

In the grand ol’ upstate New York fashion, it’s the time of year to celebrate the coming of long nights, and cozy houses, and rich foods. And so, the Novemberfest was born.

A time for a bit of drink, some convivial conversation and lots and lots of cakes and cookies and puddings! This year is my third, and it looks like biggest gathering so far… he he!

This is a bit of a flat Hallowe’en for us. Hope you’re enjoying yours – and I love your lantern!
I used to make pumpkin pie every year – yum…I’ve never heard of pumpkin cookies.

P.S. Novemberfest is a lovely idea. In Ireland, Hallowe’en was always a very festive date, and of course in England there’s Guy Fawkes, so when I married an Englishman we combined the two and celebrated at the nearest weekend to either date, so I suppose that was our Novemberfest.

Actually, with the cold weather we’re having at the moment, I may nip out and get another pumpkin to make up some soup… hmmnn… 🙂

Yup! I did carve it. I always have a halloween lantern, and it’s always the same face that you see here. 🙂

I’ve also cooked some more pumpkin to make some cookies and a pie, ready for my Novemberfest next weekend…
