I don’t hate many things, but I soooo HATE that cursed roundabout. The *Green Road” roundabout the bane of my life morning and evening, Monday through Friday…

You know that they are planning to redesign that roundabout in an (appropriately enough) *hamburger style* roundabout. No really, that’s how they described it…???

I visited my mother in the Forest of Dean this weekend. I was very glad that I wasn’t driving, and so could immerse myself in the views. Gloucestershire is so beautiful, but I’ve never seen it in November before – such a panoply of colours – and even more vivid, I think, because the past few months have been so dry. When we drove back today there were mackerel skies that quickly turned angry and purple and the rain drove down slantiwise, so that it was hard to see the road ahead. Then, we crested a hill and the rain stopped as if a shower had been turned off. The sky above me was still violet and indigo and grey but in the valley the sun was golden and the trees seemed to burn. I wished for a camera, but I don’t think that I would have been able to capture what I saw. When we got to that big roundabout at Oxford (the one with the funny oldie-worldie MacDonalds) I thought about you and wondered if you’d been out with your camera! How beautiful the world is. Thank you Thomas.
