Do you ever get that feeling of déja vu? You made an almost identical comment to this almost exactly a year ago…

Hello again!

What an eclectic collection – which is real life. I wish that I’d been able to keep all my books. We lived abroad for quite a long time, moving from country to country, and books were expensive to transport, so we tended to just leave them behind.
Also, they take up a lot of space, so periodically we have had to have a clear-out (which always pains me). My first clear memory of a scent was the smell of the newspaper shop in Doha, Qatar, where I lived when I was a little girl (it also sold books). There’s a WH Smith newsagent/bookstore, in Loughton, Essex, England, that has EXACTLY the same smell! I just love it.

I certainly don’t worry about which way up books are – not as if the words are going to fall out is it?

The rules – grab digicam, point and shoot. No arranging, just do it.

I couldn’t agree more. I did try to get this kind of thing started, but it just didn’t take off – funny that…?!!

As to your shelf, I particularly like the inclusion of the Moomins, but I do think you could put some of your older books the correct way up! 😉

It’s a bit of a funny one, don’t you think? I’ve no idea where it all started, but I suspect that someone just wrote down what was in their bookcase, because we see the same authors coming up again and again (e.g. Terry Pratchett). Anyway, it’s interesting to see what we’ve all read (or not). Sometimes surprising, too.
I wonder if you would like The Once and Future King. It was one of my favourite childhood books. It’s hard to think of it as one book, though, because each part is so different. Walt Disney’s “Sword in the Stone” was based on the first book of the novel, which is very childish, full of parody and humour. The following sections have a very different tone. Give it a go!
