I do kind of know what you mean in that JH does tend to focus his outrage on a few subjects that he gets really passionate about. They eventually cancelled his column in the Guardian because they said there weren’t enough jokes in it, which I thought was indicative of how he was using it. It’s easy to forget that he’s a political activist as well as a comedian and I think he focused his column more on the former than the latter.

Actually I made the mistake of looking in the Daily Mail (one of Hardy’s major targets) in a takeaway whilst waiting for my food and it really made me want to spit blood – there was a deranged shock horror article about some parents who discovered their 15 year old daughter had had an abortion without their knowledge, when they read through her diary. There is much that one could say about this but the thing that most struck me is that the average Daily Mail reader would want to march their daughter down to the clinic faster than one could say ‘wire coat hanger’, so is their beef that they wanted to make the decision rather than their daughter, or did they want the opportunity to turn their daughter into one of the teenage single mothers that the paper is often so up in arms about.
