I would love to, it’s another gorgeously sunny and frosty morning and I feel inspired to write. Unfortunately I’m at work, and I have this (unfortunate) work ethic that forbids me from writing (my novel) during work time.

I’ve put it off for long enough. I’m going to have to take the plunge and write some lyrics for Hanna Katla. The thing is I’m not much used to writing lyrics? Can anyone out there give me some useful tips/advice…?

I wrote the whole first draft of the novel I’m currently rewriting when I was at work! I wrote it during the summer months when we didn’t have much work on 😉 As I was basically a secretary, and there was no one behind me, it didn’t seem weird if I was tapping at the keyboard – they assumed I was just doing my work! But I was about to go on maternity leave with no intention of going back to work, so I guess I wasn’t really that bothered even if I got found out 😉 These days I try to keep a specific half-hour free every day – I pick the time when Allister is reading the bedtime story, which is about the only time that (a) I get to myself and (b) I’m still alert enough actually to produce work! I wrote lyrics for a musician friend once, but they were pretty dreadful :-/ Depends what sort of singer/musician Hanna Katla is and what sort of songs she sings. Maybe you could listen to some tunes you like and write new lyrics for them!
