I think I’d probably cry!! No seriously, it all depends really. With my last book Flyht I sent it off to a couple of publisher’s and some agents. Had a very positive rejection letter from one of the publishers, but by then I had realised that some of the comments contained within that I did agree with and that I needed to go back and seriously rework it and by then I had other stories I wanted to tell, so it’s currently resting.

So it all depends really. If I still really believe in it and the consensus of (many) people who read it is that it’s good then I might consider seeing if I can self-publish it. But if I did that I would have to be sure that it met the same editorial scrutiny of an established publishers. Elsewise, let it rest too and try again with another story.

Do I have more ideas? Silly question. Yes, lots. There’s a novel set in upstate New York, and one in Edinburgh another involving time-switching between present day Estonia and old *death house*. And then there’s the ideas for tv series and films… lots and lots of ideas… ^__^

I would like to be successful to the point of living comfortably on my royalties, but I’m not sure if I would really want the Harry Potter/J K Rowling wealth. If I did stumble into that arena, I would want to give something back in the form of maybe a foundation to help first time writers or setting up a publishers with the specific aim of finding and publishing the work of first time writers.

In terms of my books though, I think I would liket them to have the enthusiastic, much loved, lasting appeal. One’s that which maybe don’t reach the final top 100 of a Big Read contest but are bandied about as potential titles for such a list.

3. Assuming your book got published, which would be more important to you: earning big bucks or having an enthusiastic but perhaps cult (i.e. small!) following of fans?
