Brush and Ink. It’s not a medium that I would naturally have chosen for myself, because you can’t correct mistakes as easily as you can with pastel or charcoal or pencil, but oddly, this actually makes it easier!

I saw someone already posted about the mouth being too low on the guy…

Also on the girl the eyes/nose are too far to the right, and her jaw is too concave on the non shadowy part. The shadow should be below cheek…her chin and cheeks make a nice heart. See it? oh, and More hair too.

The baby’s face is too wide, especially where his ear is. Eyes are too close together, and should slant down from one corner to the other. Mouth maybe a little bigger and higher.

I would have no hesitation in tracing the basic shapes if I was working from a photo. That would give me a good map for laying out the shadows and highlights.

Photocopying a colour photo can be an interesting way to sort out shapes for a painting too.
