The ‘consultation’ period now starts where I can put forward my solutions and try to convince them that they can’t make my job redundant. But to be honest I’ve advocated for this change (or something like it) and for once it is actually the right thing to do, so yes, I’m taking this opportunity to be on the first priority list for new jobs, and to try and get a job that maybe, although I could do it, wouldn’t have been given before…

Or indeed to think outside of the box. Which is a little bit more scary, ‘cos it’s a scary world outside of that box.

Yes, you can think what you want about it. But in the end you are probably capable of doing loads of new things and this is a chance to try a few, so inspite of it having an aura of END, it is equally the beginning of something else – you just might know what that is yet.
