If there is a loving male/female couple and they’ve been together for years and years, but one of them decides that they are not happy being the gender they are, and starts to go through the process of having the op, and everything. This does not affect his/her relationship in any way, and they stay together. Now the question is, is does his/her partner end up suddenly becoming gay/lesbian as a result of what the other has done?

Well, I did say that it was random!! 😉

The facebook phenomenon https://shepline.com/2007/07/17/the-facebook-phenomenon-2/ https://shepline.com/2007/07/17/the-facebook-phenomenon-2/#respond Tue, 17 Jul 2007 21:08:00 +0000 http://journal.shepline.com/the-facebook-phenomenon-2/ I have been (comparatively) late in coming to the phenomenon that is facebook. But now everyone seems to be on it, and what’s more everyone seems to be on it all the time. It’s essentially got the same buzz about it, and in many ways the same uses, that Friends Reunited had about 6-7 years ago.

What I do find somewhat remarkable is that given its surge of popularity, it has not joined the list of sites blocked on workplace networks. It also leads me to consider an interesting conundrum. With so many employees using the service, and more often than not from their work PCs and in work time, one wonders how many top managers might also have been lured onto the site. And how would this news to be seen by the manager’s staff. It could be seen that they were refreshingly in touch with popular culture, but it could also be taken the wrong way. Overstressed, underpaid ‘worker-bees’ might start complaining that the divisional manager or CEO/MD should be spending more time addressing the concerns of their staff rather than spending the hours constantly updating their status with witticisms and nudging ex-classmates from East Ildleworth Grammar School in 1953.

Is the water butt half full or half empty? https://shepline.com/2007/07/17/is-the-water-butt-half-full-or-half-empty-2/ https://shepline.com/2007/07/17/is-the-water-butt-half-full-or-half-empty-2/#respond Tue, 17 Jul 2007 20:20:00 +0000 http://journal.shepline.com/is-the-water-butt-half-full-or-half-empty-2/ Had a rendezvous with Ros in the Sainsbury’s car park this evening to be handed a ticket to this year’s Wiley-Blackwell summer party. We ended up having a bit of catch up, which included me offering congratulations to her for her new job, and stopping off for a cup of tea and a chat. By the time I left Kidlington the rains had come down.

I arrived back in Bicester at about eight o’clock, in a curious orange light after the storm, with black clouds and rainbows. I decided to investigate my new water butt, expecting maybe an inch of water in the bottom. What I actually discovered was a vessel already half-full!! Now that, surely, has to be a lot of water; a lot of weather!

Interpie detoxing? https://shepline.com/2006/01/09/interpie-detoxing/ https://shepline.com/2006/01/09/interpie-detoxing/#comments Mon, 09 Jan 2006 22:29:00 +0000 http://journal.shepline.com/?p=1250 So come on friends? Spill! Where are y’all? I know a few of you are taking January off from your journals, but just take a look at the state of my friends page. You can’t all be detoxing from the cursed web of wonders?

It’s true that I’m not turning on ye olde IM as much at the moment, and that I intend to persue some more non-web hobbies (like that age old art of reading a good book), together with getting on with that novel – but I do also like to read your words (in part because of my dreadful lack of anything resembling a social life – okay maybe a bit of an exageration but you get my point – but mostly because what you guys write/post is always so damn interesting, inteligent, and … umm … brilliant.

So where are ye?

All of you present, raise your hands, and say ‘Aye’…

1. One that reflects me best. Explain why.
2. One that you think I should use more often. And why.
3. One that you don’t get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why the hell I have it.

Also, use your favourite/one of your faves when you reply and say why you like it so much.
