Bit of a mammoth road trip, but Dad went and fetched Granpa over from Maidenhead for a day in the New Forest and to see Postbox Cottage.

It was one of those glorious, sunny winter mornings. We borrowed a ladder from one of the neighbors and clambered about inside, going up into the upstairs to see the views.

The old cottage was only a single floor (though it would have once had an upper floor of kinds) and so we have never seen these views. The whole place is just amazing. I shall post some pictures here shortly…

This morning we went down to Postbox Cottage to watch the builders (these guys) at work. It’s an oak frame construction and as we arrived they were busy craning into position a couple of the roof trusses of the “main house”. After we watched them for a while, Dad had to go off into work to give a lecture so me and me Mum took Sam for a walk. When we got back the lounge was going up, so we stayed around for a bit longer and I shot some more video (I’ll try and stream some onto the web sometime when it’s been edited…)

We went to visit my Gran in the afternoon, and she was in quite good spirits – and dropped by the cottage on the way home again to find that the lounge was completely up! It was beginning to get dark though so we shall have to go back tomorrow…
