I’ve revised the 100,000 words, and I’m happy with the story. I also think that I might have a title in The End of All Worlds which is better than Blood & Fire. So what’s the problem?

The problem is the synopsis. I’ve been working through the outline of the story, putting down who x is and what y does and suddenly what holds together in the novel seems to fall apart in the synopsis. But how do I get anyone to read the thing if I can’t get them past the synopsis (and if I can’t get past the synopsis then they aren’t!). Help! Anyone…?

And then I saw this report of another young, local author making good with a book prize and I’m all jealous. Why am I jealous? I don’t know her! It turns out that she works in Oxford University Press too, of course…
