It works very well in getting proportions, as you stop relying on your mental image of what a face “should” look like.

Even if you are working from a photo it’s important to measure up to get the personality of your subject across.

I also think the eyes need work on all three faces – it might help if you think that all of our irises and pupils are round, but they’re given that “eye shape” by the positioning of our lids relative to our expression. It looks like you are drawing the eye shape with the eyelids and trying to fit the iris/pupils in afterwards. What we can recognise as an eye is a lot more complex than that, and yet at the same time can be drawn in much simpler strokes.
