Hey, I’m one of your ‘irrelevant links’, despite the fact that only eight people in the whole world can currently see my posts about writing!
Ah, I feel your pain. So far today I’ve changed the font on my novel, synchronised it with my laptop, worked out how many pages there are and felt good about that, used Word’s grammar checker to make unnecessary cosmetic changes, copied it back to my palmtop, checked out shepline.com again and proof-read your first page, made myself a cup of tea and some buttered scones with jam, put a load of washing on, and now I’m watching another episode of The West Wing which I downloaded from the internet. Eventually at some point I will write three paragraphs of text precisely one sentence of which I will be satisfied with, and if I’m not careful that sentence will be in my journal.
