And the theme was the Enigma Variations – the rousing finale to our latest concert, Entente Cordiale – as the programme a celebration of English and French music in honour of the aniversary of signing the now famous agreement.

It was a good concert, we played well, my favourites being Host’s Suite in F, Elgar’s Enigma (we did Nimrod proud!), Faure’s Pavanne and Debussy’s The Girl with the flaxen hair. A good evening and we made about £70 profit!
