A leisurely end to the holiday season – I have been swimming, done my week’s shop and bought some very nice little foody treats to see me into the new year 🙂 and now I have retreated to my warm and cosy house with the twinkling fairy lights still bedecking the tree, and have finished reading one of my presents, David Almond’s brilliant new book, Clay.
Tonight I am going to cook a mushroom risotto from Jamie’s Italy – another one of my Christmas presents, and then settle back to read a bit more and I think watch a suitably entertaining, mindless film of some sort 🙂
Whilst at the pool today, starting the new year as I mean to go on (and how blissfully quiet it was there too!), I came across the posters for this year’s Swimathon, and I’m tempted to have a go, give me something to work towards, do me some good, and maybe, just maybe, raise some money for charity. When I was swimming lots last year I got up to 40 lengths of the pool, and I’m getting back to that now (today I did 30 but I think I should be able to get back to 40 pretty soon). So here’s a wee poll for you…
You seem to have a consensus of opinion 🙂
Which concurs with my own. Excellent! 🙂
Sadly the online sponsorship form doesn’t do online giving like the London Marathon one that I received last year did – I think I may see if I can hook up PayPal to allow online donations of sponsored amounts…
Ooops, I should have read the other comments before writing my own 😛
Good on you for going in the Swimathon! I’ll definitely sponsor you, I’ll get back to you on the best way to send the money (I see I’ve got a bit of time yet!) Do you have a PayPal account?
Boo, I posted a comment and LJ ate it. I said 1.5k is probably the most achievable in the time you have, though if you want to work hard, go for 2.5k. 5k might be a bit taxing – why not have that as your challenge for the end of the year?
